About
I have hands on experience in the entertainment business, I’ve worked in the music, television, and film industry. While at Chelsea Film Festival, I was the Communications Manager. It was in this position I learned to execute all aspects of a marketing strategy. One of the many daily tasks I was responsible for was creating content, as well as monitoring traffic, on all social media handles. I created, produced and filmed a weekly vlog, titled #WomenCrushWednesday. Each week the female founder would do a one on one interview with different women in the entertainment industry that supported the Chelsea Film Festival. In this role, I was able to utilize my creativity, and bring my creative thoughts to fruition. I have excellent communication skills that were honed while acting as a liaison between CFF and talent, press, photographers, and partners. I negotiated Memorandum of Understanding’s between CFF and partners, such as Women’s Health Magazine, VICE Impact, etc. In this role, I also gained experience in Business and Legal affairs when I worked with obtaining a US Government Grant for CFF.
At Sony Music Entertainment, I was a part of the Spotify account team. I was responsible for updating and monitoring the digital release schedule for all upcoming projects on all listening platforms. Another daily responsibility was tracking Sony’s homepage takeovers (HPTO). An HPTO is a paid ad for Sony’s top performing playlists on the homepage of Spotify for the entire day. I would track each playlist’s ranking overall and those of their respective genre the day before, the day of and the day after the ad aired. We met weekly to discuss the data analytics of each playlist’s performance, focusing on impressions, total streams, follower growth, and streams per user. Thus, I learned the importance of monitoring consumer behavior to evaluate return on investment, more specifically I realized just how valuable data analytics can be.
While at Viacom, I worked as market research assistant in the Digital Developments and Insights group. Here is where I found my passion for consumer research. I conducted focus groups consisting of other interns at Viacom for the rebranding of RateMyProfessor.com with the then current president of MTV. I posed questions to the groups, as well as noting their behaviors and responses while answering. I helped conduct research on MTV shows such as Teen Wolf, in order to determine which promotion and/or branding spoke most to “super fans” as well as their average audience. I aided in the product testing of the launch of a new Comedy Central mobile app. I was in charge of observations and notes, as well as asking questions on behalf of the UX designers. While the consumer didn’t always make sense to me, the consumer’s opinion was of utmost importance to the findings distributed to the various departments.
I very much appreciate you taking the time out of your schedule to review my cover letter and resume. I have shown organization skills and an ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously. I feel that as a result of all of my experience in this field, I have gained a skill set that would make me an asset to the team.
Sincerely,
Tara Sullivan
